In a sea of rage fuelled Talk Shows hosted by "political experts", Carnival music and College Football I have found the Grail.
My new favorite station. 1170 AM K-BOB
It's a small Country station close to the end of the dial. They play some newer stuff but for the most part it's 1980s and back. (Yeah, I'm oldish)
I can't wait to load the Dogs into the truck and go for my Sunday drive. Hell, I wish I had my 63 F250 back now..

I pretty much just listen to AM, then flip to satellite during the 30 minute long commercial breaks. The impending death of the medium has been announced so many times over the past several decades I don't even pay attention anymore.

I personally enjoy my local NPR channel when radio get boring after playing the same 20 songs over and over again. At least they always had new content and interesting stories. When I delivered parts, I listened to them a lot. AM is nice to have.

I still listen to NPR so I can get my Prairie Home fix on Saturday.

"The impending death of the medium has been announced so many times over the past several decades I don't even pay attention anymore."
That is true.
I grew up listening to Chicago AM radio but it was all talk radio. No music at all. Guys like Steve Dahl, Garry Meyer, Kevin Matthews and the like are gone.
Hearing Country on AM feels different somehow.

Yeah, it was usually background noise for me. The things they did for the web usually had me cracking up though.

Brings back fond memories of, believe it or not, a decent AM country station that broadcast in metro New York back in the 1960's and 1970's. I first remember it as WJRZ, then WWDJ as late as 1976 or so. It was one of the few stations we could pick up cleanly in the basement of the supermarket I worked in at the time. Though having little interest in C & W music before, several of us were rockers appalled by disco and broadened our taste once introduced to Merle Haggard, Hank Snow, George Jones, Conway Twitty and dozens of other old school country crooners.

There's something about Haggard, Jones and Twitty on AM.
It sounds better.
